he Kearny Recreation Department and West Hudson/South Bergen Optimist Club will
Co-sponsor our Annual Fishing Derby on Sunday May 20, 2012 at the West Hudson Park
(Fairy Lake) located between Davis Avenue and Schuyler Avenue. RAIN OR SHINE!!
Registration begins at 12:00 noon with Derby contest time to commence at 1:00pm until
3:00pm. Boys and Girls up to age 12 are invited to participate and try their fishing skills
and luck at catching the biggest fish. Trophies are awarded in two age divisions for Boys
and two divisions for Girls, with fishing gear prizes also up for grabs at the conclusion of
the Derby.
All participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing pole, bait, and fishing gear. But
limited bamboo poles, bait, and fishing tackle will be available for those who are unable
to supply their own. Looking forward to seeing everyone compete in this seasons annual
FISHING DERBY CONTEST. The N.J. Division of Fish and Wildlife and the Hacketts-
town Hatchery will be stocking the lake and may be making an educational presentation,
prior to the Derby start time, in an effort to help children learn some fish biology, fishing
regulations, angler ethics and how to handle fish. The children may help stock the fish!!
