Library Monitor
We are always accepting applications for part time Monitors to work in library to shelve returned books, check books in and out, answer phones, help with children’s programs and special events, and other related duties. 19.5 hours per week, $7.15 per hour. FT provisional position in Municipal Water Utility. Exp in excavating with a rubber tire backhoe in the maintenance of a water utility infrastructure, installation & repair of water mains, water service lines, water valves & fire hydrants. EMERGENCY EVACUATION OFFICER
TOWN HALL EMERGENCY EVACUATION OFFICER
The 2nd floor of the Town Hall, including the Council Chamber, has been posted for a Maximum Occupancy of 49 persons based upon the NJ Uniform Fire Code requirements’ specifically the 2nd floor council chambers lacks of a 2nd means of egress.
A special consideration variance has been temporarily granted to the Town to permit an increase in occupancy of the 2nd floor to 80 persons with the following conditions:
Town Hall Main meeting Chambers:
• EMERGENCY EVACUATION OFFICER
o Hours determined by court calendar (attached)
o Uniformed (unarmed) guard shall be present during court sessions.
1. The Fire Official or his designee shall be assigned to the Chamber during any assembly where the occupancy of the 2nd floor exceeds, or has the potential to exceed, 49 persons. This “Official” will have specific duties and responsibilities to be carried out and must remain at post for the duration that the assembly exceeds 49 persons. The Fire Official or his designee must follow the duties as outlined below.
2. Any event that causes the 2nd floor to exceed the 80 person maximum occupancy and the Fire Official or his designees’ ability to maintain order; the Official shall have the authority to order the chambers and 2nd floor vacated. Police should be requested for enforcement of eviction.
• EMERGENCY EVACUATION OFFICER DUTIES AND PROCEDURES:
Note: The following duties and procedures are designed specifically for fire and evacuation emergencies
when the occupancy of the 2nd floor exceeds 49 persons for any type of use.
1. The Fire Official or his designee will be responsible for the orderly evacuation of the facility in the event of an emergency. The Official must immediately notify dispatch of the emergency, by radio, and supervise the evacuation. The Official shall insure the 2nd floor is empty prior to exiting.
2. The Official will maintain a ‘head count’ and use his authority to maintain the occupancy of the 2nd floor to under 80 persons. This is inclusive of the chambers, hall waiting area and offices. The 2nd fl hall ‘waiting area’ must not exceed 20 persons and those persons must not impede the exit way to the stairs or the elevator room.
3. Prior to business the Official will insure that all egress doors are operational. The Chambers doors must be in the unlatched position.
4. Prior to the start of business, and for each non-continuous session, the Official must make an announcement or have an announcement stated to all attendees regarding evacuation procedures. This announcement should be part of the procedural announcements made at the start of any meeting.

BUILDING INSPECTOR / CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
Part time provisional position needed to inspect ne and existing structures to ensure compliance with the State Uniform Construction Code and Town of Kearny Codes. ICS license required. HHS and fire protection license a plus. 19.5 hours per week. Salary range: $17.50 to $23.50 per hour. Positionis subject to open competitive testing conducted by the NJ Department of Personnel.
