Motorized Scooters Are Illegal
Motorized scooters are considered motor vehicles pursuant to New Jersey statute 39:1-1. These scooters are not permitted on the sidewalk or roadway at any time. Private property use is permitted but the New Jersey statutes that pertain to private property still apply. Those in violation are subject to summonses and impoundment of the scooter.
Pedestrians Have the Right of Way
It’s the law. You must yield to pedestrians in a cross walk. Kearny Police Department Officer will issue court summons to motor vehicle operators who do not yield to pedestrians in a cross walk.
Help Keep Kearny Clean
Residents, Visitors, Business Operators need to “Pitch In”. A litter free community needs your help. Use litter baskets, sweep sidewalks, don’t place garbage out for collection on Saturday night for Monday collection. Don’t Litter - A Clean Community is everyone's responsibility.
