Kearny Celebrates Annual National Night Out Against Crime

On Tuesday, August 2, 2016, the Town of Kearny celebrated National Night Out Against Crime, an annual event sponsored by the Kearny Community Policing Unit.  Hundreds of town residents turned out for the event held on Belgrove Drive and Veteran’s Field which featured a wide range of activities for children including a bounce ride, and ice cream and a chance to spray a fire hose at a target. 
 

Peruvian Civic Association Sponsors West Hudson Peruvian Independence Day Parade

On Sunday, July 24, 2016, the Peruvian Civic Association of New Jersey (PCANJ) celebrated Peruvian Independence with their annual parade.  The parade line of march stepped off in Harrison and traveled to Kearny Town Hall while participants exhibited their culture through the use of native costumes, bands, decorative floats, and marchers from many fellow Peruvian Associations. Tax bills for the next four quarters were mailed out on July 22nd and the Tax Collector’s Office at Town Hall will be open late until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 9th. If you have any questions you can call the Tax Office at 201-955-7888.

Kearny Farmers Market Opens June 23rd With Free Plant Giveaway

Beginning Thursday, June 23rd the Kearny Farmers Market will be opened for business.  Shoppers will enjoy “JERSEY FRESH” produce like just picked strawberries and blueberries, honey, specialty cookies and breads, and herbs and flowers.  AND ON OPENING DAY ONLY, the first 100 market customers will receive a FREE plant to help start their own home growing season.  
 

Kearny Memorial Day Ceremonies Recognize and Honor Those Who Served and Made the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Country

The annual Memorial Day Parade took place on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 7:00 pm.  The parade line of march stepped off at Belgrove Drive and Locust Avenue and traveled south on Belgrove Drive, culminating in a ceremony held at the American Legion Post 99 recognizing those who died while in service to our country.  The program featured remarks by Parade Grand Marshall Thomas Mernar and Mayor Alberto G. Santos.
